Firefighters were tackling multiple fires in central England on Thursday after the UK recorded its hottest day of the year as an intense stretch of hot weather continued to grip Europe.

A child and three firefighters have been taken to hospital after wildfires set homes ablaze in the West Midlands.

Around 60 firefighters attended the scene near Stourbridge golf course after being alerted to the blaze at around 1.30pm.
